Takeda Katsuyori was once a warlord. Now he's mostly a man trying very hard to make sensible decisions while the universe repeatedly refuses to cooperate.
After losing a war, he wandered into the wrong forest, got adopted by a sarcastic deer kami, accidentally befriended a two-hundred-year-old tengu doctor, and somehow ended up investigating supernatural murders.
He has an unfortunate habit of throwing himself between danger and the people he loves before remembering self-preservation exists. Fortunately, he also possesses the survival instincts of a cockroach and the patience of a man who has spent far too much time being called unc by someone older than history.
Katsuyori is the prime example of "I will stand between you and the world, but I have no idea what to do when you make fun of me" energy.
Yamazaki Kento would make a perfect Katsuyori. Unfortunately, Kiyoka Oda is a poor Australian-Japanese author whose production budget currently extends to grass for breakfast and skipped lunches. Until someone buys a few million copies, the dream cast remains exactly that.
