The Takeda clan was a prestigious faction whose famous cavalry had broken every army it faced until the Battle of Nagashino. Under the leadership of Katsuyori, the clan suffered a devastating defeat against Oda Nobunaga's arquebusiers, losing their most trusted generals and the bulk of their forces.
Following the retreat to Tenmokuzan, the clan effectively ceased to exist as a ruling power. Katsuyori's retainers committed seppuku, and the province fell into lawless chaos, leaving behind only the legacy of their martial discipline and scattered loyalists like Tsuchiya Masatsune.
