Synopsis

Claude Grey has never been the strongest, smartest, or most talented person around him. But that has never stopped him from trying to become a Hero. In the year 2240, the world has changed. Strange areas known as Tangents have appeared across the Earth, bringing monsters, dangerous environments, and creatures that should never have existed. Humanity has adapted by relying on the Reborn—people who awaken a System and gain a class that determines what they can become. Claude finally gets his chance. After a dangerous encounter in the Redwoods, Claude is Reborn and receives a class that he never expected: Beast Tamer. At first, it seems like a simple path to becoming stronger. But Claude soon discovers that his new abilities are tied to something much deeper. His connection with the forest grows stronger, his senses begin to change, and the instincts he develops are becoming harder to ignore. With Frosty, a massive PitWolf who has been part of his life since childhood, Claude begins his new life as a Hero. Between the Academy, rivalries, training, Tangents, and increasingly dangerous enemies, he slowly learns that becoming strong is only part of the problem. The more Claude learns about the world around him, the more complicated his idea of being a Hero becomes. There are monsters inside the Tangents. There are monsters outside them too. And Claude may have to figure out which side he belongs to.
