Milk and Murder
Synopsis
On the morning of the school cultural festival, a student is found dead in the haunted house attraction. The mechanism failed. The investigation finds no clear answers.
One by one, pieces of Kensuke's hidden life begin to surface from beneath the cheerful, ordinary version everyone thought they knew. And with every new detail, the homeroom teacher feels the same disturbing thought return. None of them had truly known Ushijima Kensuke at all…
Set against the backdrop of contemporary Japan, from the snow-buried villages of Hokkaido to the borrowed apartments of Kobe, Milk and Murder asks whether the distance between protection and harm is always as clear as we need it to be.
The plot twist in Milk and Murder was rejected by 11 publishers. Kiyoka had had enough of this shit and self-published it.
Most readers found it depressing, yet they couldn't stop reading. One person asked her what the fuck she was smoking when she wrote it.
