The morning after their wedding, David woke before Marilyn.
For several minutes, he simply watched her sleep.
He smiled.
For years, he had imagined this moment.
But now that it had arrived, it felt strangely ordinary.
There was no music.
No audience.
No dramatic movie scene.
Just two people lying in the same room after making a promise to spend their lives together.
Marilyn opened her eyes.
“Why are you staring at me?”
David smiled.
“I'm trying to understand how I got so lucky.”
She laughed.
“You've been married to me for less than twenty-four hours and you're already becoming dramatic.”
“That's because I'm an engineer.”
“What does that have to do with being dramatic?”
“Engineers are very emotional.”
She laughed.
David reached for her hand.
“Good morning, wife.”
Marilyn smiled.
“Good morning, husband.”
They both laughed.
Their movie had entered a completely new chapter.
