Late that night, after everyone had gone to sleep, David and Marilyn sat together watching an old movie.
The movie reached its final scene.
The screen slowly became dark.
Marilyn smiled.
“Another movie has ended.”
David looked at her.
“Yes.”
“Sad?”
“No.”
“Why?”
“Because tomorrow we'll watch another one.”
She rested her head on his shoulder.
David smiled.
He thought about everything they had experienced.
The first meeting.
The friendship.
The jealousy.
The arguments.
The separation.
The distance.
The dreams.
The return.
The wedding.
The family.
Every scene had mattered.
Even the painful ones.
Because without the difficult chapters, they would never have understood the beautiful ones.
David looked at Marilyn.
“Our movie is still playing.”
She smiled.
“Forever?”
He shook his head.
“Nobody knows how long a movie lasts.”
She laughed.
“Then what do we do?”
David held her hand.
“We enjoy every scene.”
The television went silent.
The room became dark.
But their story didn't end there.
Because some stories don't need a perfect ending.
They only need two people willing to keep writing.
And so, the movie continued.
