Marilyn was already there when David arrived.
She was sitting beneath the tree.
David walked toward her.
Neither spoke.
Then Marilyn stood.
“I'm sorry.”
David shook his head.
“I'm sorry too.”
She smiled.
“I don't want us to fight over who is right.”
“Neither do I.”
“I want us to understand each other.”
David took her hand.
“Then let's start again.”
“Again?”
“Like the first time.”
She smiled.
They sat beneath the tree.
For hours, they talked.
About work.
About money.
About their dreams.
About their fears.
About children.
About the future.
They didn't solve every problem.
But they finally started talking.
Sometimes saving a relationship doesn't require a miracle.
Sometimes it requires one person to say:
“Let's talk.”
