Three days passed.
Neither of them wanted to start the conversation.
Finally, Marilyn couldn't take it anymore.
“David.”
“Yes?”
“Are you angry with me?”
“No.”
“You're lying.”
He sighed.
“I'm not angry. I'm disappointed.”
“Because I was working?”
“Because I feel like I'm becoming a stranger in your life.”
Marilyn stared at him.
“Do you think I don't feel the same?”
David became silent.
“I work because I have dreams too,” she continued. “You aren't the only one with ambitions.”
“I know.”
“No, you don't.”
She walked away.
David remained in the living room.
For the first time, he understood that loving someone didn't mean automatically understanding them.
Sometimes love required learning them again.
