CHAPTER 11: YAMOSHI'S BATTLE-HUNGRY SIDE
The smoke from their cataclysmic clash was still drifting across the scorched remains of the crucible when the trap snapped shut.
Goku and Vegeta lay scattered across the shattered stone, gasping for breath, their muscles burning and their energy reservoirs completely depleted. For a brief second, the tension had dissolved. The shared laughter of exhausted warriors had filled the air, and the trial appeared to be over.
Yamoshi stood a few paces away, his chest heaving, his silver-and-gold Primordial aura flickering like a dying candle.
Then, the ancient god's expression shifted. The respectful, weary smile melted away in an instant, replaced by a cold, predatory gleam that made the hairs on the back of the neck stand up. A terrifying, ravenous hunger burned deep within his metallic-gold eyes—the bloodlust of a primordial beast that had tasted true power and found it only made him hungrier.
"Did you truly believe," Yamoshi’s voice dropped into a dark, echoing growl, "that a Saiyan’s hunger for battle ever sleeps just because the dust settles?"
Vegeta’s eyes shot wide open. What—?!
Before either exhausted warrior could even draw breath, Yamoshi vanished. There was no buildup, no warning shout. Just a brutal, supersonic rupture of space.
He materialized instantly above Vegeta. With a ruthless, mechanical efficiency, Yamoshi brought his heel down in a lethal axe-kick straight toward the prince's chest.
CRACK!
"Gagh!" Vegeta coughed up a violent spray of blood, his eyes bulging as the crushing impact shattered the stone beneath him, driving him deep into a subterranean crater. The sheer velocity of the sudden assault left zero room for recovery.
"Vegeta!" Goku choked out, trying to push himself up on trembling arms.
Yamoshi didn't give him a second to think. A blurred afterimage later, the ancient god was standing directly in front of Goku. Before Goku could even blink, Yamoshi’s hand clamped down hard over Goku's face, slamming him backward and dragging him across the jagged earth at lightspeed before violently hurling him into a remaining pillar.
BOOM!
Stone exploded into a million lethal shards. Goku collapsed into the rubble, his body battered, bruised, and utterly defenseless.
"Get up, Son Goku!" Yamoshi roared, his voice shaking the very foundations of the chamber as his Primordial Ikari Super Saiyan God aura flared back to violent, terrifying life. "You showed me the peak of your technique, but what good is technique if it shatters the moment the storm truly begins? Show me the core of your race! Show me your undying will!"
Far back in the observation zone, Gohan froze, horror washing over his face as he watched his father and Vegeta get systematically dismantled.
"He's not testing them anymore," Gohan whispered, panic tightening his throat. "He's trying to break them completely!"
Jiren didn't hesitate. Without a single word, the imposing warrior stepped forward, his aura erupting in a blinding, dense inferno of crimson-and-white meditation power. "This has gone beyond a training exercise. We have to intervene!"
"I'm right behind you!" Gohan yelled, his body erupting into the furious, jagged gold-and-white light of his ultimate power.
In a flash of synchronized movement, Gohan and Jiren launched themselves into the center of the arena, intercepting Yamoshi before he could deliver a fatal blow to Goku.
Jiren struck first, throwing a heavy, straight punch packed with absolute, unyielding justice. Yamoshi countered by raising his forearm, the impact creating a shockwave that tore the remaining roof of the chamber wide open.
“Justice Impact!” Jiren shouted, pressing forward, his eyes blazing with fierce resolve. "Your trial is over, Yamoshi! You will not execute them here!"
Gohan materialized on Yamoshi’s flank, his expression hardened into a mask of pure fury as he unleashed a blistering flurry of martial arts kicks, combining his supreme human intellect with hybrid Saiyan savagery. “You want a battle?! Then you have to go through us!”
Yamoshi was forced back a few inches, his golden eyes narrowing in irritation as he parried Gohan's furious strikes while blocking Jiren's relentless pressure.
"Interlopers," Yamoshi snarled, a savage grin twisting his lips. "You think teamwork can shield them from the reality of a true god?"
With a deafening burst of pre-universal energy, Yamoshi unleashed a localized shockwave that blasted both Gohan and Jiren backward. Gohan skidded across the dust, his arms scorched and trembling, while Jiren dug his boots deep into the earth, sliding a hundred yards before coming to a halt, gritting his teeth against the overwhelming pressure.
"They're... they're completely out of our league," Gohan gasped, clutching his bruised arm as he tried to stand back up.
In the crater behind them, Goku lay motionless amidst the rubble. His eyes were closed, his breathing faint. The physical toll had pushed him past his absolute limit. Every muscle fiber felt like it had dissolved into ash.
Is this it? Goku’s conscious mind echoed faintly in the dark void of exhaustion. Are we really going to stop here?
As he lay there, a strange, deep-seated warmth began to ignite in the very center of his chest. It didn't feel like the sterile, detached divinity of Ultra Instinct, nor did it feel like the burning rage of Super Saiyan. It felt ancient, heavy, and raw—the primal, untamed heartbeat of the first Saiyans echoing through millions of years of bloodline evolution.
Deep within his subconscious, a tail—long forgotten and dormant—seemed to lash against the fabric of his spirit, anchoring him to his purest, most fundamental roots.
Yamoshi, having pushed Gohan and Jiren back, slowly turned his heavy gaze toward Goku’s fallen body. "It is disappointing, Son Goku. I expected—"
Yamoshi abruptly stopped.
The air in the chamber didn't just change; it compressed into an absolute, suffocating void.
From the crater where Goku lay, a terrifying column of multi-colored, primal energy violently erupted into the heavens, shattering the remaining spatial barriers of the crucible. The light wasn't the clean silver-white of angels, nor the fiery red of gods. It was a chaotic, beautiful fusion of wild, primordial fury and absolute divine serenity.
Vegeta slowly raised his head from the dirt, his eyes wide in absolute disbelief. What is... this pressure?
Gohan stared at the pillar of light, his jaw dropping. "Dad's ki... it's completely different from anything he's ever unlocked!"
Jiren’s pupils contracted to pinpricks as he felt the sheer, gravitational density of the rising power. "He isn't just tapping into angelic execution... he's dragging his ancient mortal ancestry into the divine realm."
The column of light parted.
Goku slowly rose to his feet. But he was no longer the exhausted warrior who had collapsed moments before.
His hair had grown longer, flowing backward in wild, majestic silver-white spikes that crackled with arcs of raw, multi-colored lightning. His eyebrows had vanished completely, mirroring the absolute purity of Ultra Instinct, but his eyes burned with a fierce, amber-gold iris set inside a deep, focused stare. Most shocking of all, a thick, silver-white tail whipped steadily behind him, balancing his center of gravity with preternatural grace.
The ultimate evolution of mortal and divine.
Primal Mastered Ultra Instinct.
Yamoshi stared at him, his ancient breath catching in his throat for the first time in an eternity. A wide, incredulous, and utterly thrilled smile spread across the ancient god's face.
"Magnificent..." Yamoshi whispered, his voice trembling with genuine excitement as the final battle of the crucible prepared to begin.
