University was harder than David expected.
The lectures were difficult.
Assignments seemed endless.
Sometimes he spent entire nights studying.
At first, he and Marilyn talked every evening.
Then it became every few days.
Then once a week.
Eventually, there were weeks when neither of them called.
David understood.
Life was moving quickly.
But understanding something didn't make it less painful.
One night, David opened his phone and saw Marilyn's last message.
“I miss our conversations.”
He stared at it for several minutes.
Then he typed:
“I miss them too.”
Before he could send it, his phone rang.
It was Brian.
“David! We have a problem.”
“What happened?”
“Come to the hostel.”
David immediately left.
He had no idea that the problem would change his university life forever.
