David arrived on a Friday afternoon.
He carried one suitcase.
And the same old photograph.
Marilyn was waiting at the airport.
When she saw him, she ran toward him.
They hugged.
Neither wanted to let go.
“You came back.”
“I promised.”
She smiled.
“You're different.”
“So are you.”
They laughed.
For a moment, the years apart disappeared.
It felt like they had never been separated.
