Chapter 10: Side Effects

Teal looked at the blood dripping out of his nose. 

He touched his nose with his fingers, looking at the blood that was smudged on his fingers "Woah..."

He fell unconscious again onto the bed, his head sinking back into the pillow.

"He sure loses conscious often. What a weakling." Ryu scoffs.

Van on the other hand, was totally panicked "You idiot! Is it a time to be joking? We should take him to the doctor! Right now!"

"And what if the doctor saw his arm and leg? He would totally panic." Ryu was awfully calm for some reason.

Teal got up suddenly sitting straight.

Van was the only one who looked surprised in the room.

Teal groaned "Ugh... My head feels heavy... Was it a side-effect of using the hearing ability?"

Van's expression shifted from surprise to that of utter disbelief "Unbelievable. I was worried for nothing."

"Told ya, worried for nothing. He somehow just wakes up like it's nothing."

Van sighs "So you had a ear ring, huh?"

Teal touched his ears "I don't have any earrings though."

"Haha very funny Teal." Van speaks in a sarcastic tone.

"Extra Extra Read all about it~" Ryu starts singing.

Teal and Van stare at Ryu, they were trying not to laugh at him sing.

Teal burst to laughter, unable to hold it back.

"HAHAHA. What was that? You are so bad at singing! HAHAHA."

Ryu groaned at Teal. 

Creak.

The door opened with Ryu's butler standing outside the door.

"Young Master. The Family head wants to see you," He looks at Van and Teal "He also said to bring them along."

"You have your own butler?" Teal looked at Ryu surprised, his laughter from a few moments ago vanishing.

"Well... Yeah" The corner of Ryu's lips curved into a smirk.

Ryu got up from the chair "Alright guys let's go downstairs."

Everyone got up. Teal was walking rather normally for an injured person. Van looked a bit nervous thinking maybe Ryu's father is a mafia boss kind of person.

Ryu's father was sitting on the dining table, the seat where every family head sits.

"So you are Ryu's friends" He asked menacingly.

Satoshi Tate— The richest person in the city. Although he was rich, he was respected by many people in the city. 

"Ohoho. You guys are so stiff! Don't be scared like that. I won't eat you alive." Despite his menacing aura he looked pretty friendly.

"Ryu never brings anyone home. This is the first time he has brought anyone here."

Teal and Van relaxed a bit after hearing him act friendly. 

"I thought you were scary uncle. Phew, you talk so casually I misunderstood you." Teal looked lax while talking to him.

"Well. Don't call me uncle. It makes me feel old. If you need anything you can ask me. "

"Yeah. My dad has a lot of influence." Ryu mouths Van to ask.

"Unc— I mean Mr. Tate. Can we ask something of you?"

"Yeah sure, go ahead." Satoshi replied to Van, he seemed a bit curious.

"So ummm... Do you know anyone who is good at robotics? Like the best one you know."

"Yeah. I know someone. Why are you asking?"

Van hesitated a bit "Actually we need to find out about Teal and Ry—"

"V-Van just wanted to meet someone who knew about robotics, b-because he is interested in robotics, right Van?" Ryu interrupted Van and gave him a glare to agree with him.

"Y-Yeah, I wanted to meet him because I am interested in robotics."

Satoshi gave a knowing smile "I can arrange a meeting with that person. But be careful with him, he acts up a bit."

"Thank you Mr. Tate!" Teal jumped shaking his hands.

"Alright, alright. Sheesh, you are so energetic. You are same as Ryu."

"WE are not!" Teal and Ryu blurt out in unison.

"Hahaha. Anyway Joseph will escort you to him. Be careful not to be too friendly with him though."

"Alright father. We will be careful."

Joseph starts driving the car. 

Ryu sits in the front seat making Teal and Van sit on the backseat.

"I wanted to seat in the front seat." Teal looks out the window dissatisfied. 

Ryu looks at Teal through the front mirror "Too bad my dad owns the car."

As they sat in the car, a few minutes passed. The car came to a stop.

They get out of the car getting greeted by an abandoned building.

"I will be off then, Young Master. Family head has informed him of your arrival." He looked front and started driving leaving them alone.

"He sure doesn't waste a moment." Teal spoke whole looking at the smoke left behind by the car.

"More than that, what the hell is this. This guy we are about to meet looks really creepy, I mean who stays at an abandon building that looks like it is haunted." Ryu got shivers looking at the place.

Van was silent for sometime and spoke "An abandoned building. Don't you think its best place for conducting experiments. A place where no one comes. Even if there is a sound no one will hear as there is so much distance from the near building."

"So you are saying he may be the guy who did this to us?" 

As Ryu spoke those words all of them frowned, remembering what happened to Debra shades, their blood started boiling.

Teal spoke after he calmed down "Guys, remember, our motive isn't revenge. We are here to find who this guy is, why he did that and stop him if he tries to continue."

"Phew. Alright." Ryu turned to face Van who still hadn't calmed down "Buddy. I know you are angry but remember our conversation. This isn't how you should be feeling right now." 

Van exhaled "Yeah... You are right. I shouldn't lose my composure. Lets go in without wasting any time."

The three of them start walking. 

SKREEEE.

The rusted gate opens with a creepy sound.
