Chapter 16 - It is scolded

“Thia, the teacher asked you to put one of these handouts in everyone's desk.”

“It refuses.”

“See? I told you.”

“It rewinds the scene with Clarity.”

Classmate C: “Thia, the teacher asked you to put one of these handouts in everyone's desk.”

“It refuses.”

Classmate D: “See? I told you.”

Classmate E: “Thia, I get that you're not normal and everything, but could you please just lend a hand?”

“What Price will be paid for It to complete this Task?”

Classmate E: “What? There's no price for helping. Do you think this is a job? It's literally just putting paper into a desk. Chloe, just leave them there. Don't do Thia’s job for her. It's her fault if she gets in trouble.”

Classmate C: “Thia, you're making things really hard for everyone. The teacher asked you, so it's up to you, okay?”

“Incorrect. Terms were not set. It has no obligation to complete the Task.”

Classmate D: “Forget it. We'll just do it. It's only a couple minutes of work anyway.”

Classmate E: “You're seriously going to just coddle her like this? She never does anything and everyone just tiptoes around her like the goddamn PC police are going send you to letter camp if you're not just like, ‘Ohhh that's okay. We'll do it for you.’ to the autistic girl.”

Classmate C: “Ellie, come on, that's not nice..."

Classmate E: “No, do you know what's really not nice? The fact that everyone has to make up for Thia all the time because she won't do anything.”

“It will complete the Task if a Price is offered.”

Classmate E: “What? Do you want a medal or something? For doing the barest of bare minimum?”

“A medal will suffice. The Task is putting one paper into each desk. The Price is one medal. Are these Terms correct?”

Classmate E: “Hell no, they're not correct. That was sarcasm. Sar. casm. Nobody's going to give you a medal for doing something that everyone else around you is doing for free. Do you see any of us asking for a reward? No. We help because it's what we're supposed to do. That's what being a class is about.”

“Understood.”

Classmate E: “Really? You do? Tell us. What do you understand?”

“It understands that a Price will not be paid. Therefore It will not complete the task.”

Classmate E: “Agggghhhhh you're absolutely insuffera—”

Classmate D: “Forget it, I'm almost done. Just leave her alone. It won't make a difference anyway.”

Classmate C: “Thia, the teacher is trying really hard to get you involved so you can be part of the class. Wouldn't it be good to give some effort in return? The teacher really wants to help you fit in.”

“It did not agree to such Terms with Teacher.”

Classmate C: “Thia..."

Classmate E: “I really can't watch this any more. Never change, Thia. Just be a terrible person for your whole life. Keep being you. Keep pushing away everyone who wants to do anything nice for you. Keep spitting on the goodwill of everyone around you. Yeah, keep being you. Keep being you. Just don't expect anyone to ever be your friend.”

“It has many friends.”

Classmate E: “Bullsh—”

“It reminds that such language is forbidden by the Terms agreed upon with School.”

Classmate E: “Terms. Terms. Terms. That's all you ever say. Just let up for once and maybe people will like you.”

“It refuses.”

Classmate E: “Yeah, I thought so. Whatever. I'm so done with this.”

Classmate D: “That's the last of the papers. Let's go.”

Classmate C: "...Bye, Thia..."

“It bids farewell.”

"..."

“It retracts Clarity.”
