Storm clouds of utter bleakness and ferocity had shrouded the sky during the dawn of that fateful day, replacing the standard heat of high summer. From the institution that lay atop and inside a monstrous hill, a crystal-clear view of the nearby bay was almost always offered. But by the time the very first attendees started to make their way onto the grounds, it was already obscured.
Thrice that morning lightning and thunder had struck, each attack more sickeningly loud and menacing than the last. Crows vacated their haunts on the highest branches of tallest trees, taking to the sky and only adding to the eery feeling. But the airborne electricity was never accompanied by even a single drop of rain - the air remained dry.
Many wise men looked skyward that day, wondering at the nature of this strange display of weather. Was it an anomaly - just a shockingly poor day in the midst of an otherwise beautiful summer? Or could it be God, making his displeasure about some great sin known?
A select few even had worse ideas…
Or maybe - just maybe - it would become a true and natural omen, a harbinger, of all the death and destruction that would follow in droves. For that was the very same day He struck.
And the wrath of The Priest never really ended.
