Hainun immediately panicked.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to! Here, let me clean it for you!”

She was about to approach the man to help clean his suit, but he immediately slapped her hand away.

“Don’t bother!”

The man busied himself with cleaning the stain on his suit.

“Next time, watch where you’re going!”

“Tch.”

The man clicked his tongue in annoyance.

His gaze then shifted to Hainun.

He looked her up and down, as though judging her from head to toe. His scrutinizing gaze made her feel uncomfortable.

The man was undeniably handsome, but there was something incredibly cold and piercing about his eyes.

Hainun could have defended herself.

Wasn’t the man also distracted by his phone and not paying attention to where he was going?

However, she decided against it.

She was here to look for a job. She didn’t want to cause a scene over a misunderstanding and end up losing her chance to get hired.

“Do you have any idea how much my suit costs?” the man asked.

Hainun shook her head.

“How would I know, sir? You haven’t told me the price.”

The man stared at her in disbelief.

“What did you just call me? Sir? Do I look that old to you that you have to call me that?”

Hainun furrowed her brows.

“Then what am I supposed to call you?”

He already looks old enough. With that expressionless face, he looks like some middle-aged man, Hainun grumbled inwardly.

“Whatever! I’m tired of talking to you,” the man snapped.

“If you’re tired, then get straight to the point, sir. Just tell me how much I have to pay you in compensation.”

Hainun was beginning to lose her patience.

“One hundred million rupiah. Can you afford that?”

Hainun's jaw nearly dropped.

“One hundred million?”

She stared at the man’s suit with wide eyes.

Could a suit really cost that much?

Or was this man just making up the price to get money out of her?

These days, there were so many people who came up with all sorts of schemes to scam others.

“Are you trying to scam me? There’s no way a suit costs that much!” she asked bluntly.

The man immediately shot her a sharp glare.

“What would a poor, shabby-looking woman like you know about it?”

His words caused Hainun’s expression to change.

“If you can’t afford to compensate me, just say so. There’s no need to get snippy and accuse me of being a scammer!” the man snapped.

For the first time, he felt as though someone had seriously underestimated him.

If not for the fact that Hainun looked young and rather naive, he might have reported her for accusing him of fraud.

However, he decided not to make a bigger issue out of it.

“What’s going on here?”

The voice of a middle-aged man came from behind them.

The restaurant owner had just stepped outside after one of his employees reported a commotion near the entrance.

He wanted to find out what had happened.

Hainun immediately fell silent.

Seeing the middle-aged man approach made her even more nervous.

Could he be the restaurant owner?

If the owner found out that she had just caused a scene, her chances of getting a job here might disappear completely.

“Nothing serious,” the man in the suit replied. “This woman accidentally bumped into me, but she’s already apologized.”

He briefly glanced at Hainun.

Judging by the clothes she was wearing, he could guess that she had probably come to apply for a job. Besides, she was carrying a brown envelope that looked like it contained application documents.

“Oh, I see. Would you like us to replace your coffee, sir?” the restaurant owner asked.

“No need. I’m in a hurry.”

The man then took out his phone and immediately left the restaurant.

Hainun turned around, following his departure with her eyes.

She was rather confused.

At first, she had thought the man would tell the restaurant owner about the incident and make her look bad.

But he hadn't.

Thank goodness.

Hainun let out a relieved sigh.

At least she no longer had to worry too much about that.

“Why are you still standing there?”

Hainun jolted in surprise.

She quickly turned to face the restaurant owner.

“Oh, sir...”

“What do you need?”

Hainun immediately tightened her grip on the brown envelope she was carrying.

“I’d like to apply for a job here, sir. Are you currently hiring?”

The restaurant owner studied Hainun for a moment.

“We’re no longer looking for additional waitstaff, but we still need one delivery courier.”

“I can work as a courier, sir!” Hainun answered quickly.

“Are you sure?”

The middle-aged man seemed a little hesitant. After all, Hainun was a woman, and working as a courier meant spending a lot of time on the road.

Hainun immediately nodded several times.

“Yes, sir! I’m sure!”

“All right. Let’s continue this discussion inside.”

Hainun’s face immediately lit up.

“Yes, sir!”

She followed the restaurant owner inside, her steps suddenly feeling much lighter.

For the first time in months of searching for a job, Hainun felt as though she was finally seeing a glimmer of hope.

Hopefully, luck will finally be on my side this time.
