Chapter 2 — The Introductions

The Primordial Realm was a place suspended outside the geography of time. There was no floor beneath their boots, yet they stood anchored to nothingness as firmly as if they were planted on bedrock, and no sky arched above them—only an endless, luminous white expanse that seemed to stretch into the infinite.

Before them stood Zalama. Even among beings accustomed to trading blows with gods and conquerors, the Dragon God possessed a presence that made the air feel thick, heavy with the weight of uncounted millennia.

Yamoshi stood at the front of the group, his golden-brown eyes moving slowly from one warrior to the next.

Goku.

Vegeta.

Gohan.

Jiren.

Even without drawing upon their power, Yamoshi could feel the distinct, dense signature of their strength humming beneath their skin. They were anomalies—mortals who had breached the absolute ceiling of divine limits. But a team was more than the sum of its individual parts, and before they walked into whatever storm Zalama had dragged them into, the ancient Saiyan wanted to establish who he was standing beside.

Yamoshi folded his arms across his chest, breaking the heavy silence. "Before we face whatever crisis brought us here, we should at least know each other's names. I am Yamoshi."

Goku blinked, his initial defensive posture instantly melting away into his usual easygoing grin. He stepped forward, raising a hand in a casual wave. "Hey, nice to meet you, Yamoshi! I'm Son Goku, and this grumpy guy over here is Vegeta."

Vegeta shot Goku a lethal glare, his aura flaring with suppressed irritation. "Shut your mouth, Kakarot. I can introduce myself."

The Saiyan prince turned his sharp, piercing gaze toward Yamoshi, his eyes narrowing with sudden suspicion. There was something wrong about the way the man stood, the way his ki drifted like an unburned ember buried in deep ash. It didn't feel like the energy of an ordinary Saiyan. It was ancient, heavy, and possessed a terrifying, primordial weight.

Almost familiar.

Vegeta’s gaze locked onto him. “Hold on...”

Goku tilted his head. “What is it, Vegeta?”

Vegeta didn't answer immediately. His jaw tightened, his eyes tracking the intricate scars and the calm, unshakable posture of the stranger.

“That power...” Vegeta muttered.

Yamoshi met his gaze without flinching. “What about it?”

Goku suddenly stepped forward, his carefree demeanor evaporating as a sudden spark of recognition hit him. He stared at the shape of Yamoshi's face, the legendary aura buried deep beneath his control.

“Wait... you're...”

The realization struck both Saiyans at almost the exact same microsecond.

Goku's eyes widened into dinner plates. Vegeta's expression hardened into a look of sheer disbelief.

“You're the legendary Saiyan God!” Goku blurted out.

The atmosphere in the white expanse seemed to drop several degrees. Gohan turned sharply toward Yamoshi, his eyes wide with sudden awe. Even Jiren, whose focus rarely shifted from his own internal resolve, narrowed his eyes and focused more closely on the ancient warrior.

Yamoshi didn't blink. He simply stood there, entirely unsurprised by their shock.

“So you've heard of me,” Yamoshi said softly.

Vegeta’s fists tightened until his knuckles popped, a mixture of ancestral reverence and fierce competitive pride warring behind his eyes. “Heard of you? The Super Saiyan God isn't just a bedtime story—you're the myth our whole history was built on!”

Yamoshi looked toward the prince, a faint, melancholic shadow crossing his face. “A legend, huh? I suppose that is all I became to your people after the fire burned out.”

Goku stared at him, his initial urge to fight completely derailed by the sheer historical weight of the moment. For the first time since being pulled from Mount Paozu, he wasn't looking at a sparring partner. He was looking at the root of everything he was.

“So you're really him,” Goku whispered. “You're Yamoshi.”

Yamoshi gave a single, slow nod. “Yes.”

Silence settled over them, thick and reverent. Gohan cleared his throat politely, stepping forward to bridge the gap. "I'm Son Gohan, Goku's son," he said, offering a respectful nod to the ancient warrior.

Jiren remained a few paces back, his arms crossed over his chest, his expression carved from stone. "I am Jiren," he rumbled, his voice carrying the deep, unyielding resonance of a man who spoke only when necessary.

Before introductions could go any further, Zalama’s low voice cut through the quiet. “Now that you have acknowledged one another, it is time you understand why you have been gathered.”

The five warriors turned toward the Dragon God as one.

Zalama raised a single, massive hand. Instantly, the empty white realm around them fractured and bled into color. A colossal holographic projection unfurled in the distance—a breathtaking, terrifying web of countless universes, gleaming worlds, and intricate, branching timelines, all floating within an enormous, fragile cosmic architecture.

Even Goku and Vegeta, men who had stared down gods and dimensions, fell entirely speechless at the scale of what they saw.

“Beyond your individual worlds lies a greater existence,” Zalama said, his voice echoing like rolling thunder. “The multiverse.”

The image expanded, zooming out to reveal rivers of time splitting and branching into infinite realities. Different versions of familiar worlds, strange alien civilizations, and warriors of impossible power flickered within the vast tapestry.

“The Elder Gods have organized a tournament unlike anything that has ever existed,” Zalama continued.

Gohan stepped forward, his academic mind instantly zeroing in on the terrifying implications of the statement. “Who... who organized this tournament?”

“The Elder Gods.”

The name landed with the force of a falling mountain. Nobody dared to breathe.

Vegeta’s eyes narrowed into dangerous slits. “And where do we fit into all of this? Are we entertainment for these so-called gods?”

Zalama looked slowly across each of them, his amber eyes lingering on their faces. “You will represent one of them.”

Goku frowned, scratching the back of his head. “Which one?”

“Your creator.”

The word hung in the dead air, heavy and absolute.

“Posaiden is the Elder God you will represent,” Zalama explained. “He is the one who selected you because each of you possesses qualities and potential that he believes are necessary for what lies ahead.”

Goku blinked. “So Posaiden chose all five of us?”

“Yes.”

Gohan looked between Zalama and the other four men, his brow furrowed in deep concentration. “But... why us? What makes this group so special?”

Zalama’s gaze shifted from Gohan to Jiren, then to the two Saiyans from Earth, and finally back to Yamoshi. “Because none of you are ordinary warriors. Each of you comes from a different path. Different experiences. Different timelines.”

That single revelation hit them like a physical blow.

Goku whipped his head around, staring at the others. “Different timelines?”

Zalama nodded once. “Yes.”

Gohan stepped forward again, his voice dropping an octave. “Then... we're not all from the same reality?”

“Correct.”

The information settled over the group like heavy lead. Gohan slowly turned his head to look at Jiren, who stood like a statue in the distance.

“So,” Gohan said cautiously, “you come from another timeline too?”

Jiren gave a slow, deliberate nod. “Yes.”

Goku let out a low whistle, a grin breaking through his shock. “Man... that's incredible. Imagine all the guys you must have fought in your world!”

Vegeta, however, was less interested in cosmic tourism and more focused on the pieces of the puzzle concerning himself. He turned his glare back to Zalama. “Then what about Kakarot and me? Where do we fit?”

Zalama studied the two Saiyans for a long moment. “You two are different from the others.”

Goku and Vegeta exchanged a sharp, assessing glance.

“You come from the exact same timeline,” Zalama continued. “Your world is the one following the immediate aftermath of the Black Frieza arc.”

Goku’s expression instantly hardened, all traces of his cheerful curiosity vanishing. Vegeta’s eyes narrowed into pinpricks of pure hostility.

The mere mention of that name brought back the bitter taste of defeat. The sudden appearance of the tyrant. The casual, terrifying display of power that had put both of them into the dirt without breaking a sweat. The desperate race to find a way to bridge an impossible gap.

Neither Saiyan spoke. The air between them grew sharp enough to draw blood, heavy with the unforgotten memory of humiliation and the desperate hunger for vengeance.

Gohan noticed the sudden, suffocating shift in his father’s and Vegeta’s expressions. He softened his tone, speaking carefully. “You two... you've been through quite a lot together recently, haven't you?”

Goku forced a small, tight smile, rubbing the back of his neck. “Yeah. You could say that.”

Vegeta scoffed, turning his face away with a violent jerk of his chin. “Don't make it sound sentimental, brat. We were simply dealing with a pest.”

Goku let out a short, dry laugh. “Sure, Vegeta. Whatever helps you sleep at night.”

“Hmph.”

Zalama watched their exchange quietly before steering them back to the reality of their situation. “The tournament will not simply test your raw strength. It will test your ability to stand together despite coming from different worlds, different timelines, and entirely different lives.”

Gohan’s jaw tightened, the weight of the stakes pressing down on his shoulders. “How many lives are we talking about?”

Zalama did not hesitate. “Every life. Across every timeline in existence.”

That landed heavier than any technique or threat ever could. Even Jiren’s stoic expression flickered, the absolute stillness of his aura trembling for a fraction of a second.

Yamoshi’s expression darkened into a scowl. He untangled his arms, his fingers curling into loose fists. “Creator?”

He stepped toward Zalama, his voice dropping into a dangerous, rumbling bass. “I was born before most gods even learned how to draw breath. No Elder God created me.”

Zalama met his fierce, ancient glare without a single flinch of hesitation. “And yet here you stand. Chosen.”

Yamoshi stared at him for a long, tense second. Then, slowly, the tension bled out of his shoulders, though the fire in his eyes remained. He said nothing more.

No one else spoke. The five warriors stood in a loose circle, looking at one another with a newly forged understanding. They weren't just five strong guys thrown into a room. They were representatives. Representatives of an ancient god, representatives of broken timelines, and soon... the final shield for an entire multiversal fate.

Yamoshi let out a slow breath and unfolded his arms entirely, a faint, confident smile touching his lips. “Then I suppose if we're going to stand back-to-back against the end of everything, we've introduced ourselves. Now it's time to see what we're truly made of.”

Goku grinned, his competitive fire returning in full force. Vegeta crossed his arms tighter, though his eyes gleamed with silent approval. Gohan nodded with a quiet, steady resolve. And Jiren simply stood firm, his gaze fixed on the horizon.

Zalama watched them, his expression unreadable.

As the five warriors prepared to speak, the white space around them imperceptibly shifted.

Far, far away—beyond the edge of the Primordial Realm, beyond the reach of Zalama's awareness—something was watching. Something ancient, alien, and deeply patient had kept its eyes on them since the moment they arrived.

Zalama glanced upward for a single, fleeting second—then sa0id nothing, letting his gaze drop back to the ground.

Their journey had only just begun.
